MEANING OF REAL NUMBERS
Real numbers are all the numbers that we can place on the number line. They include every number we use in daily life:- whole numbers, integers, fractions, decimals, and many more.
DEFINITION OF REAL NUMBERS
A real number is any number that can be represented on the number line. It includes both rational and irrational numbers.
TYPES OF REAL NUMBER
A) RATIONAL NUMBERS:
Numbers that can be written as fractions .
EXAMPLES:
- 3/4
- 2 ( =2/1)
- 0.5 ( = 1/2)
B) IRRATIONAL NUMBERS:
Numbers that cannot be written as fractions. Their decimal form is non-terminating and non-repeating.
EXAMPLES:
- √2
- π
- √5
